Cr. Sharon Cadwallader JP has been a Councillor representing the local Ballina Shire community now for over 14 years. The progression from serving her community in such a broad and committed way is a natural one, when that progression leads into helping & joining people during the most memorable, and important ceremonies of our lives. Sharon understands how necessary it is for all of us to acknowledge the major milestones in our lives with such ceremonies, and knows how to help you create and shape these occasions so they are as meaningful and special for all involved as possible.
Sharon was raised on the North Coast of NSW and has been a local resident for the past 20 years. Along with her husband Bruce she owns and manages a local holiday accommodation business, Leisure-Lee Holiday Apartments. She also serves the community in the capacity of a justice of the peace.
The first step to planning one’s best wedding ceremony is to complete your Notice of Intended Marriage. This document needs to be lodged at least 31 days before your wedding ceremony. At our first meeting bring your original birth certificate (and your passport if you have one). Also, official original documentation of any previous divorces or spouses’ deaths.
As a formality, a declaration is prepared which you both need to sign before the marriage ceremony to declare that you know of no legal impediment to this planned civil marriage. If you are bringing a partner into Australia, a letter for the Department of Immigration discussing your intentions is also required. If any member of the couple wish to change their surname following the marriage then another seperate document is also required. As your registered marriage celebrant, Sharon can attend to all legal documentation necessary for your civil ceremony.
While legal requirements for your civil marriage ceremony are completed, you are encouraged to make all your other, less formal (but just as important) arrangements. A detailed ceremony schedule can be personalised and designed with you by email if preferred and suggested changes are most welcome until a week prior to the wedding ceremony.
